Heavy residual fuel for industrial burners, kept heated and circulated so it stays pumpable. Listed on the old site as “virgin fuel oil D6”; the standard calls it Grade No. 6.
Kept above its pour point
Grade No. 6 is semi-solid at ambient temperature. Steam or hot-oil coils hold the tank contents above the grade's pour point and mixers keep the heat and the sludge distributed, so the cargo that loads is the cargo that was stored — pumpable, homogeneous and on specification.
Listed under its standard name
This grade is often offered in trade desks as "virgin fuel oil D6". The market's standard name is fuel oil Grade No. 6 under ASTM D396, and that is the name we trade and test under. If you are offered "D6 virgin fuel oil", check the specification carefully — the phrase appears mostly in documents that do not survive a laboratory.
Sulfur set by contract and law
ASTM D396 does not set a sulfur limit for Grade No. 6; local regulation and the sales contract do. We test to the method your contract names and report the result on the certificate of analysis.
